DEA Warns Of Stoned Rabbits If Utah Passes Medical Marijuana

marijuana radio

Matt Fairbanks a DEA agent on Utah’s Marijuana eradication team said during testimony to the state senate stated that rabbits could get addicted to pot and it cause them to lose their natural instincts because of marijuana edibles. He claimed that illegal pot farms could have bad environmental consequences, and said he saw rabbits addicted to weed at illegal grow sites.

Washington Post reporter Christopher Ingraham wrote that illegal pot grows can indeed harm the environment, but noted that those consequences aren’t unique to weed.

Ingraham noted:

Now, regarding rabbits. Some wild animals apparently do develop a taste for bud(and, yes, best to keep it away from your pets). But I don’t know that the occasional high rabbit constitutes grounds for keeping marijuana prohibition in place, any more than drunk squirrels are an argument for outlawing alcohol. And let’s not even get started on the nationwide epidemic of catnip abuse.

DC Mayor Vows To Move Forward With Marijuana Legalization Despite Republican Threats Of Jail

marijuana radio

Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) and Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) Said in a letter to D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser on Tuesday stated that if the city decides to move forward with legalization in DC said “you will be doing so in knowing and willful violation of the law.”

“My Administration is committed to upholding the will of DC voters. We will implement Initiative 71 in a thoughtful, responsible way,” Bowser wrote on TwitterWednesday.

“The District is not responsible if the Republican language failed to convey their apparent intent, and their failure should not result in unbecoming threats to District officials,” Norton said. “It is particularly absurd and threatening to conclude that differences in opinion between lawyers for Republicans and lawyers for the District put city officials ‘in knowing and willful violation of the law.’”

So basically congress is now threating the Mayor of DC stating that what he is doing is against the law and he could land in jail if he enacts the measure to decriminalize Cannabis in DC. Luckily for us he is telling them to pound sand. This goes into effect today.

Man Walks Into D.C. Man Walks Into D.C. Police Office, Asks For Marijuana Back, And Gets It

marijuana radio

Per American University Radio:

D.C. police often confiscate drugs during the course of searches and arrests, but now D.C. residents are legally allowed to ask for them back — and one recently did.

According to D.C. Council member Yvette Alexander (D-Ward 7), a resident walked into the Sixth District police station in Ward 7 on Monday and asked an officer on duty to return his marijuana to him, which had been confiscated during a prior arrest.

“He walked in to recover his property from a recent arrest,” said Alexander, who was told of the exchange by a staff member who witnessed it. “He walked in and said, ‘I want my property back, and want to make sure I get my weed back.’”

NYPD Commissioner Bratton Acknowledges Marijuana Prohibition Responsible for Increased Shootings

marijuana radio

NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton gave a press conference on march 2nd

“In this city, people are killing each other over marijuana more so than anything that we had to deal with an ’80s and ’90s with heroin and cocaine,” said Bratton. “We just see marijuana everywhere when we make these arrests, when we get these guns off the streets.”

“Prohibition is the absence of control, and by legalizing and regulating marijuana, we can regulate the marijuana marketplace, said Gabriel Sayegh, managing director of policy and campaigns for the Drug Policy Alliance. ” If Bratton wants to end the violence in the illicit marijuana marketplace, he should support the Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act introduced by State Senator Liz Krueger and Assemblywoman Crystal Peoples-Stokes.”

Surprise! Prohibition leads to black market related crimes….. All of a sudden. So somehow even though people have been smoking cannabis in NYC forever just recently there has been an increase in shootings. It seems that some people selling cannabis illegally are getting robbed because they have to keep large quantities of cash on hand. In some cases people start shooting at each other and good cops die. This is one of those unfortunate effects of unregulated black markets creating violence. This is why we need a legal regulated market.

Ben & Jerry’s Founders Are Totally Down With Weed Ice Cream When It’s Legal

marijuana radio

Ben and Jerry founders stated in a recent interview with Huffington post live that if they were the decision makers they would be producing cannabis infused ice-cream.

“Ben and I have had previous experiences with substances, and I think legalizing marijuana is a wonderful thing,” he said. “It’s not my decision. If it were my decision, I’d be doing it, but fortunately we have wiser heads at the company that figure those things out.”

So it seems Ben and Jerry smoke weed and think that infused ice cream is the future. No set plans now but it sounds like once its legal everywhere they might be the first ones to mass market cannabis infused ice cream

New Mexico’s Industrial Hemp Farming Act Passes Senate With A Super Majority

marijuana radio

Yesterday, for the first time in history, the New Mexico Senate voted in favor of a measure allowing hemp cultivation. On a vote of 33-8, New Mexico State Senator McSorley’s (D-16-Bernalillo) Senate Bill 94 (SB94) passed the Senate Floor. The bill now heads to the House of Representatives.

If SB94 is passed through the House and signed into law New Mexico will join Kentucky, Hawaii and Colorado, which have already created industrial hemp research programs.

New Mexico is one step closer to being able to grow hemp. Lets hope the house doesn’t mess it up.

Mixed verdict in federal trial of Washington pot growers

marijuana radio

The three remaining defendants of the so-called Kettle Falls Five were all found guilty of growing marijuana. But a jury found them not guilty of distributing marijuana, conspiracy to distribute and firearms charges that carried long prison sentences.

So federal prosecutors are busting people for growing medical marijuana in Washington where it’s legal. This is just another example of the feds not allowing themselves to self regulate.

Texas lawmaker moves to decriminalize marijuana

marijuana radio

“I don’t believe that when God made marijuana he made a mistake that government needs to fix,” wrote state Rep. David Simpson, R-Longview

A god fearing Christian that doesn’t hate cannabis?! So we might be on different wavelengths but I definitely agree with this guy on one very simple principal. The government does not need to have a say in what kind of plants I grow in my back yard. I wonder what David Simpsons views are on the gay people god created.
